As a facilitator of goods and services including food, shoes, clothes, bedding and educational support, Family2Family offers emergency relief to those in crisis. Our primary goal is to ensure families, at-risk students, and aging-out foster children have direct access to our storehouse of daily essentials and channel of partners to provide immediate relief and support for restoration.
The Family2Family Foundation participants can realize life goals through the removal of obstacles keeping them from leading happy and productive lives.
Family2Family of SE Michigan evolved from the passion of sisters Charese Sailor and Mary Jo Sanders, who were moved to help fill the needs of displaced families after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. It was the community’s willingness to give and their own compassion for championing the needs of those in crisis, that progressed this labor of love into a 501(c)3 organization in 2005.
Charese and Mary Jo, daughters of NFL legend Charlie Sanders, quickly teamed up with local businesses, agencies, neighbors, and friends, to use their resources and relationships to fill a 60,000 SQ FT donated facility for helping those in crisis. Soon the community and media began to spread the word causing donations of canned goods, clothes, shoes, medical equipment, and toiletries to fill “The Family Life Center”, with still more room for life skills training.
It has been through the donations of time and talent from countless dedicated volunteers that have enabled Family2Family to assist nearly 3,000 individuals for over a decade, and remain as a community and agency go-to for those in need.
WE ALSO PROVIDE…
In times of natural disaster or escaping threatening situations Family2Family offers access to clothing, canned goods, and household items including appliances and furniture when available. These timely provisions encourage forward motion in continuation or pursuit of productive lives.
Family2Family serves as a conduit connecting families in need with services provided by area community and governmental agencies. Since 2005 we have used this bridge to assist hundreds of Metro-Detroit families in need.
